The Alpine A110 was a sports car manufactured by French automaker Alpine from 1961 to 1977.


The A110 replaced the earlier A108, and was Alpine's most successful model, winning numerous rallies throughout its career, including the Monte Carlo Rally in 1971 and 1973.


The A110 was powered by a range of four-cylinder engines, initially from Renault, but later from Alpine itself.








In 1973, a more powerful "Alpine A110 1600S" model was introduced, with a 1.6-liter engine producing 108bhp. This was trailed by the "Elevated A110 1800" in 1974, with a 1.8-liter motor delivering 123bhp.


The final version of the A110 was the "Alpine A110 1900" introduced in 1976, with a 1.9-liter engine producing 128bhp.


A total of 7,812 Alpine A110s were built before production ended in 1977.


The Alpine A110 was succeeded by the Alpine A310, which was introduced in 1977.


Design


The Alpine A110 was designed by Giovanni Michelotti, who had also designed the earlier A108.


The A110 was a small, lightweight sports car, with a fiberglass body mounted on a steel chassis.


The A110 was powered by a range of four-cylinder engines, initially from Renault, but later from Alpine itself.


The A110 was available in both left-hand drive and right-hand drive configurations.


The A110 was rear-wheel drive, with a live rear axle.


The A110 had independent suspension all around, with coil springs and wishbones at the front, and a leaf-sprung live axle at the rear.


The A110 had four-wheel disc brakes.


The A110 was available as a coupé or a Targa-topped spyder.


Racing


The Alpine A110 was very successful in motorsport, winning numerous rallies throughout its career, including the Monte Carlo Rally in 1971 and 1973.


The A110 was also successful in circuit racing, winning the French Rally Championship in 1971 and 1972, and the European Rally Championship in 1971, 1972, and 1973.


The A110 also raced in the World Rally Championship, scoring a total of eight podium finishes between 1973 and 1976.

It was powered by a 1.6-liter engine, producing 108bhp.


The 1600S was available as a coupé or a Targa-topped spyder.


A total of 1,484 1600S models were built.

The Alpine A110 1800 was a more powerful version of the A110, introduced in 1974.


It was powered by a 1.8-liter engine, producing 123bhp.


1800 was available as a coupé or a Targa-topped spyder.


A total of 1,618 1800 models were built.


Alpine A110 1900



The Alpine A110 1900 was a more powerful version of the A110, introduced in 1976.


It was powered by a 1.9-liter engine, producing 128bhp.


1900 was available as a coupé or a Targa-topped spyder.


A total of 4,811 1900 models were built.
