The Kia Carnival is a minivan manufactured by Kia Motors, introduced in September 1998, now in its third generation and marketed globally under various nameplates, most prominently as the Kia Sedona. In North America, the Carnival was marketed as the Kia Sedona, while in Australia and some European markets it was known as the Kia Carnival.


First generation (1998–2005)


The first generation Kia Carnival was introduced in September 1998 in South Korea, with exports to other markets beginning in 1999. It was based on the Kia Besta platform, and was available with either a 2.5- or 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine. In some markets, a 2.9-litre turbodiesel engine was also available. A four-speed automatic transmission was standard, with a five-speed manual available in some markets.


The Carnival was available in both short- and long-wheelbase versions, with the long-wheelbase version known as the Carnival Grand in some markets.


The Carnival was facelifted in 2002, with a new grille, front bumper, and headlights. The interior was also updated, and a DVD entertainment system was added as an option.

The second generation Kia Carnival was introduced in January 2005 in South Korea, with exports to other markets beginning in 2006. It was based on an extended version of the Hyundai NF platform, and was available with either a 3.3- or 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine. A four-speed automatic transmission was standard, with a five-speed manual available in some markets.


The Carnival was available in both short- and long-wheelbase versions, with the long-wheelbase version known as the Carnival Grand in some markets.


The Carnival was facelifted in 2009, with a new grille, front bumper, and headlights. The interior was also updated, and a DVD entertainment system was added as an option.

The third generation Kia Carnival was introduced in 2014. It is based on a modified version of the Hyundai Santa Fe platform. It is available with either a 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine, or a 2.2-litre inline-four diesel engine.
