Porsche Cayman
The Porsche Cayman is a mid-engined sports car produced by German automobile manufacturer Porsche. The second generation model, the 987, was unveiled at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Porsche introduced an all-new Cayman for the 2007 model year, called the 987.1. It featured a new, more powerful engine and a redesigned exterior. The 987.1 was replaced by the 987.2 in 2009, which featured further refinements.
The Cayman is based on the same platform as the Porsche Boxster and shares many components with it. The Cayman was originally designed as a coupe version of the Boxster.
The Cayman is powered by a flat-6 engine, located behind the driver and connected to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. The Cayman S was introduced in 2006 with a more powerful engine, and the Cayman R was introduced in 2010 with a lighter weight and more powerful engine.
The Cayman GTS was introduced in 2014 with a more powerful engine and sportier suspension. The Cayman GT4 was introduced in 2015 as the most track-focused Cayman model.
Porsche offers a wide range of factory-installed options and accessories for the Cayman, including sport seats, navigation, and a sports exhaust.
The Cayman has been well-received by the automotive press, and was named the Best Sports Car by Car and Driver magazine in 2007 and 2008.
