Skoda Kodiaq
The Škoda Kodiaq is a seven-seat large SUV launched in 2016 by the Czech car manufacturer Škoda Auto. It is the company's first SUV model and was designed and built on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform.
The Kodiaq was introduced at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and went on sale in February 2017.
As of July 2018, the Škoda Kodiaq is available in China, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and some South American countries.
Design and engineering
The Kodiaq depends on the Volkswagen Group MQB stage.. It is 4,697 mm (185 in) long, 1,882 mm (74 in) wide and 1,676 mm (66 in) tall, with a 2,791 mm (110 in) wheelbase.
The Kodiaq is powered by a range of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engines include a 1.4-litre TSI engine with 125 kW (168 hp) and a 2.0-litre TSI engine with 140 kW (188 hp). The diesel engines include a 1.6-litre TDI engine with 85 kW (114 hp) and a 2.0-litre TDI engine with 140 kW (188 hp). All engines are paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG transmission.
The Kodiaq is available with Škoda's 4x4 drive system, which includes an electronically controlled Haldex clutch. The system can send up to 100% of the torque to the rear wheels when needed.
The Kodiaq is available with a range of safety features, including adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane keep assist, park assist, and traffic jam assist.
Variants
The Škoda Kodiaq is available in a range of trim levels, including SE, SE L, Scout, SportLine, and Laurin & Klement.
The SE trim level is the entry-level trim and includes 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, manual air conditioning, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The SE L trim level adds 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, power-folding mirrors, automatic air conditioning, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Scout trim level is the off-road-oriented trim and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, all-wheel drive, hill descent control, and underbody protection.
The SportLine trim level is the performance-oriented trim and includes 19-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension, and a sporty body kit.
The Laurin & Klement trim level is the range-topping trim and includes 20-inch alloy wheels, Nappa leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

In New Zealand, the Kodiaq is available in three trim levels: 132TSI, 140TDI, and 140TSI.
In South Africa, the Kodiaq is available in three trim levels: 132TSI, 140TDI, and 140TSI.
The Kodiaq was the best-selling SUV in Europe in 2017, with 100,000 units sold.
Awards
The Škoda Kodiaq won the 2017 European Car of the Year award.
The Kodiaq was also named the 2017 Czech Car of the Year.
